Stay away from Vista, aside from the fact that it came out the oven half-cooked and is a resource hog, Vista comes with a license that restricts virtualization. Latter has a few more features that are nice and is also free for personal and academic use. There's an open source edition (OSE) and a proprietary version. It might be a little less polished than Parallels and Fusion. VB runs on Linux, Windows and OS X (version for latter is still beta).
